Kate Sherman
(b. 1996 Fair Haven, New Jersey) is a painter and printmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Recalling architectural forms, industrial textures, and vibrant hand-painted signs that she encounters while cycling to work, Sherman constructs flat, interlocking paintings from scraps of recycled canvas and metal hardware. Her assemblages and small, rectangular works alike revel in the act of creating shifting compositional rhythms and ambiguous spatial illusions. Sherman’s work was recently featured in Hyperallergic as part of a group exhibition at Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia, PA.
